Since 1983, Bill has been part of Brandenburg Properties, a generational, San Jose-based real estate investment firm. He oversees the day-to-day operations of investments across seven states. As a fourth-generation San Josean, Bill has also dedicated much of his life to serving and strengthening his community.

Throughout the years, Bill has received numerous distinctions and recognitions from a variety of organizations. However, one of his most important commitments is advancing stroke awareness, education, and prevention.

Bill’s personal connection to stroke began in the fall of 2006, when his mother suffered a stroke at home. A nurse by training and someone who had always enjoyed excellent health, she did not initially recognize the warning signs. She experienced dizziness and a severe headache and went to lie down, believing that rest would help. She never considered that she might be having a stroke.

Four hours later, Bill and his brother found themselves in the emergency room with their mother. What initially appeared to be a mild stroke continued to worsen, eventually having a devastating impact on her health and independence. She never fully recovered and, after 15 difficult months, passed away from complications related to her stroke.

That experience changed Bill’s life and inspired a lasting commitment to stroke awareness. He pledged to do everything he could to educate others about stroke warning signs and the importance of recognizing and responding to a stroke quickly—so that other families would not have to experience the loss his family endured.

Today, Bill shares his time, experience, and talents with Stroke Awareness & Recovery by AbilityPath to advance stroke education, community outreach, and stroke prevention. Through this work, he is helping raise awareness, save lives, and improve the quality of life and recovery outcomes for stroke survivors and their families.
